Course Syllabus

 

Course Length:            2 periods /Second Semester

Grade Level:                11th – 12th grade

Pre-requisite:                Beginning Auto/ B- or better or Instructor waiver

Instructor:        Mr. Sitton   Auto Shop 885-5066 

 

All Automotive classes are designed with the intent of helping students familiarize themselves with real world working demands and requirements. Punctuality and treatment of fellow students (co-workers), respecting public, private and personal property are very important parts of the Automotive program.  These are just as important if not more, than the technical knowledge and skills required to perform your daily work task.

 

STUDENT EXPECTIONS:

            BE ON TIME!

Be ready to learn when you arrive. Have classroom tools ready to go (pencil, paper, and text book-if we are using it.)

RESPECT others’ feelings and circumstances (put yourself in their shoes)

Be a PROBLEM SOLVER

BE SELF MOTIVATED

Have a POSITIVE ATTITUDE (attitudes are contagious! Is yours worth catching?)

Be Honest

Wear Coveralls or a Shop Coat and Safety glasses when working in the shop

WILLING TO STUDY

ADHERE TO  DISTRICT DRESS CODE – IT WILL BE ENFORCED

COURSE CONTENT:       SHOP PROJECTS-  Will range in variety and time investment – Primarily in the spring

COVER AS MUCH OF THE 8 AREAS OF ASE REPAIR AND TIME AND SHOP EQUIPMENT WILL ALLOW.

SHOP ORGANIZATION AND MAINTENANCE

 

COURSE REQUIREMENTS:

                                    Have a notebook every day  (notebook should include: Pencils, Pens, Papers and a calculator)

                                    Safety Glasses (brought from home or purchased at school -$4.00)

                                    Coveralls or shop coat

                                    Projects done in the shop will have a corresponding Repair Order attached or on file

                        Students must be able to finance their own projects or jobs through completion , or be prepared  to remove project from School if the job reaches a standstill because of lack of funds.
Grading:         Notebook  10%

                                    Daily Score 80%    (Shop time used to complete assignments or jobs)

Assignments  10%  (Combination  of classroom and shop)
