HONORS GEOMETRY CONTRACT
2007-2008
I
desire to earn honors credit in geometry.
I understand that in order to earn honors credit more is expected of me
in achievement as well as effort. This
effort and achievement will be evaluated on a higher standard than in the
regular geometry course work. I
understand that my semester grade will be based on the following:

Completion
of all of the regular geometry course work. ( ≈
15%)
n
Team
participation/ assistance grade – positive leadership and assistance. ( ≈ 10%)
n
Tests/
quizzes will be graded without a curve. ( ≈ 50%)
n
A
portfolio will be expected at the end of each unit. ( ≈ 7%)
n
One
research paper each semester to be turned in any time during the semester, but
no later than a week before the first day of finals. It is to be typed and approximately 750 –
1500 words in length. A list of topics
will be given. Include a complete
bibliography – plagiarism will result in a grade of zero. Very good capitalization punctuation,
grammar, etc. will be expected. ( ≈ 5%)

Each
unit will have one additional problem that will be handed out separately. ( ≈ 5%)
n
Each
six weeks there will be an extended enrichment problem, some with choices for
problems. ( ≈ 8%)
This
form needs to be returned by the deadline of course changes in order to earn
honors credit. Once accepted into the
honors program, maintaining a B average each semester is required to continue
in the program. Returning to the regular
math courses is only allowed at the beginning of a new semester.
