As some of you may know, we
are currently exploring the possibility of having PE uniforms at
1)
PE uniforms
allow easy identification of PHS students on campus which provides for a safer
environment.
2)
PE uniforms
bring credibility to the program when all students are dressed alike and have
the same dress standards.
3)
PE uniforms
promote school spirit and a sense of belonging.
4)
The cost of
the uniform is cheaper than the cost at a sporting goods store. (The uniform set is $16 and includes screen
printed cardinal color T-shirt and black mesh shorts with name bars on both.)
5)
PE uniforms
prevent a loss of self-esteem regarding expense, fashion, or newest trend.
6)
PE uniforms
provide safety from injury to self and others since they are free of zippers,
buckles, and other metal attachments.
7)
PE uniforms have
all students dressed properly according to the school dress code.
8)
Teachers know
that students are ready to participate and are wearing attire that should only
be worn in and during the departmental classes.
We are looking at the
following possibility:
Students
would wear black mesh shorts in various sizes with two different inseams for
boys and girls. The shorts will contain
a name bar area. We will also purchase
cardinal T-shirts in various sizes that have a yellow Prairie Falcon graphic in
the middle with the words “Prairie” above it and “Falcons” below it. There will also be a name bar area for teachers
to write the student’s name. Cost for
one shirt and one short is approximately $16.
They will also pay for their lock rental ($2) and their activity fee
($2). All fees can be paid in the ASB office. Extra shorts or T-shirts can be purchased if
the student desires. All students
will be expected to wear cardinal T-shirts and black shorts with name bars
whether they decide to purchase Health & Fitness Department apparel or not.
