Grading will be based on the following:

1.  Participation and attendance –Good attendance and participation are very important in this class.  The preschoolers and teachers are depending on you to be here, be involved with the children, model appropriate skills and behaviors, and

enjoy working with the children.  Therefore, points are given every 6 weeks for

attendance and participation.

Missing the following number of days per 6 week grading period will earn you these points:

            0-1 = 50 points

            2 days = 48 points

            3 days = 44 points

            4 days = 37 points

            5 days = 30 points

More than 5 days will be 7 more points deducted per day.

Make-up participation points may be earned for excused absences.  Choose and read a magazine article related to children and turn in a page review of the article. This must be turned in within one week of the absence.  Other choices for make-up points may be arranged with Mrs. Walsh.  This may include spending extra time helping in the preschool as needed.

2.  Tutor Evaluation – 100 points possible each 6 week grading period

This form evaluates the quality and consistency of your interactions with the children in preschool.  It also includes your contributions to maintaining our environment and responding to requests from the staff.  If a student has excessive absences it may be reflected on the participation portion of this evaluation.

3.  Written assignments

Points will vary per 6 week grading period.  This includes textbook assignments, projects, and assignments on non-kid attendance days.

Textbook assignments will have the following expectations:

1.  Turn in on due date for 100% points possible.

2.  Late assignments will be deducted 10% per day late up to 5 days or 50% possible points.  Late textbook assignments will be accepted, but will be given only a possibility of 50%.

3.  All sentences must begin with a capital letter and end in a period.

4.  May be typed or neatly hand written, but must use conventional upper of lower case letters.
