Dear Parent/Guardian:

Every six years public high schools are required to go through an intensive school improvement process known as accreditation. The accreditation/school improvement process is on-going from year to year with increasing intensity.  During this process, which PHS completed in 2006, PHS was mandated to collect data, evaluate, research and develop a plan to improve student achievement. Since that time, PHS has been on the journey towards improving student achievement. The School Improvement Team (SIT) comprised of parents, community members, teachers, staff and administration, is planning, with student input, to refocus the school day to improve student achievement. The goal of the plan, referred to as Student Teacher Access Time (STAT), is to increase student/teacher contact time, establish an intervention process, establish real incentives for students, increase student involvement in clubs and activities, and decrease the amount of F’s in classes.

STAT will be implemented at PHS beginning April 21, 2008 and will continue through the end of the school year.  As always, we are asking for feedback throughout this pilot process to help improve and implement any necessary changes.

You are invited to an informational session to learn more about the details of STAT and provide input to make this a successful plan.  We encourage you to attend one of the two sessions.

Ø      Tuesday, March 4th at 7:00 p.m. in the Prairie Auditorium.
