Dear PHS Parents:
On behalf of the PHS Booster Club, I welcome the new and
returning families to the Prairie HS community. My name is Gary Hoyt, and I was
the President of the Boosters for the last two years; and now I am honored to
serve as the Club's Treasurer.
The Booster Club is the longest standing parent-led organization at PHS, dating
back to 1979. Our mission "is to work for the good of the BGSD,
particularly
The boosters have two primary ongoing activities. First, we manage the
concessions at various home games and other events. Second, we hold
an annual dinner auction, which usually is held the last Saturday night in
October. This year it will be October 25, 2008. Last year, at the 14th annual dinner auction, the auction raised
around $40,000 after expenses. These dollars went back to benefit the
kids of PHS. Obviously, there is a long list of specifics; I
would encourage you
to ask other people about the auction who have attended or been
involved. It is very rewarding and we have fun.
The auction is a great event for the Prairie community, and we are gearing up
now to ensure the continuation of this school tradition for the kids. There are many tasks to complete, and we approach
it with a team spirit. I hope you will come join us in creating this
year's auction. It is always fun to meet new people, and share new ideas
and perspectives for the benefit of the children.
During the school year, we have monthly meetings on each 2nd Wednesday in the
Teachers Lounge @ 7:00pm. Please come and share your ideas, and see where
your talents may be best utilized for the benefit of the kids.
