· First week of school, students and parents are informed and educated about the new BGSD policy regarding technological devices.

Second week of school, PHS staff will begin to
implement the BGSD policy and confiscate technological devices that are used at
times other than before and after school and during lunch. A cell phone
or MP3 player which has been confiscated shall only be returned to the student’s
parent/guardian. Please reference the
entire BGSD policy regarding technological devices in the BGSD student/parent
handbook for more comprehensive information.
1. First confiscation: phone is identified/sealed in baggie and sent to office for parent pick-up. Main office staff will input into EA plus as FYI.
2. Second confiscation: phone is identified/sealed in baggie and sent to office for parent pick-up. Main office staff will input into EA plus as referral to admin. Admin will contact parent.
3. Third confiscation: phone is identified/sealed in baggie and sent to office for parent pick-up. Main office staff will input into EA plus as referral to admin. Admin contacts parent, assigns short term suspension, and phone will not be allowed at school for remainder of semester.
Important Notes:
· Any student
who refuses to give cell phone to any staff member will be sent to their grade
level administrator. Grade level administrator will conference with the student
and administer appropriate discipline.
· Any cell phone
use that constitutes exceptional misconduct,
such as use that threatens academic integrity, harasses other students or
staff, or violates the privacy rights of others, may result in immediate
suspension or expulsion.
· Teachers may
allow students access to their technology at their discretion if parents,
students, and administration are previously notified via course syllabi.
