Organizations, Clubs, and Teams
Activities
are an essential part of the total high
school program.
Participating in activities enables
students to experience the satisfaction of
interacting with their peers socially and/or
competitively.
Prairie has many organizations,
clubs, and teams that students can become a
member.
ASB Cards are required for
participation in student government,
athletics, extra-curricular activities, and
any ASB sponsored event.
The ASB Card can be purchased in the
ASB office.
An ASB Card entitles the owner to
free admission to home athletic events,
reduced prices for school sponsored
activities, and products.
AFJROTC

Students in the AFJROTC program can participate in many
extra-curricular activities that provide
leadership opportunities, instill the value
of citizenship, improve personal
responsibility and provide a sense of
accomplishment. Some of these
activities include community service events,
Drill Team, Color Guard, Air Rifle, Strength
Team, Model Club, and Orienteering Club.

American Sign Language is a very exciting and active club at Prairie High School.
They work hard at signing and are
involved in many events both in and out of

Christian Students United/The Merge is designed by students to
strengthen, encourage and unite all students
with like beliefs throughout the school.
DECA
Room 311
Advisor:
Ms. Whitling
DECA, a fun, educational student led club that provides
training, competition and business know-how,
for students who might want to own or work
in the business world. DECA students gather
for activities like bowling, movie parties
and hands-on experiences such as running the
student store, putting on a fashion show and
hosting guest speakers. They have the
opportunity to train to compete at local,
state and national conventions, and the
opportunity to letter. DECA students learn
real business practices, gain job skills,
learn leadership skills and can win the
right to travel when they compete.

Machine/Metals VICA
Prairie's Precision Machining /Welding and Technical Drafting
Program has an active Vocational Industrial
Clubs of America or Skills USA that anyone
is eligible to join. There are regular twice
monthly meetings scheduled during STAT.
Students are required to have an ASB card
and there is a nominal fee that covers the
state and national dues. Being in a
Machining / welding or Drafting class is not
required, but strongly encouraged.
Activities the club participates in vary
from year to year, but each year the main
activity is completion in the Regional
Skills USA contest in either Precision
Machining, Welding or Technical Drafting.
Equestrian Club

The equestrian club provides an opportunity for students, with
or without horses, to come together and
discuss various aspects of caring for
horses, showmanship and rodeo
competition. Meetings are the
second and fourth Friday during STAT.

interpretation. NFL is the America's oldest and largest high

medical careers field and want to get
involved in the Community by
volunteering, fundraising, and
collaborating with those who have
similar interests. If organizing
Blood Drives, the Great American
Smoke-out, and decorating Children’s
hospital/Nursing Homes sound fun and
rewarding, come join HSCC, Health
Sciences and Careers Club. Open to
all students.

Knowledge Bowl Room 424

This group is a Jeopardy style trivia competition team that
practices and competes against other
area schools. Questions are
wide-ranging and often include
literature, math, science, geography,
history, sports, fine arts, music and
pop culture. If you know a little
about a lot or a lot about a little, you
can contribute to the team.
Students are able to earn a varsity
letter if they meet the requirements
over the course of the season.
Practices are fun and challenging
and will begin in early October.
Legacy

Legacy is a freshmen orientation program geared towards the
successful transition of all incoming
ninth graders into high school. Mentors
need apply in the spring.
NHS

National Honor Society focuses on community service and
recognizes students who have achieved
academic excellence in the classroom.
Membership is based on
scholarship, service, leadership and
character. 10th – 12th who have attained
a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better and
are taking at least 3 solid academic
classes can inquirer about joining.
Meetings are held in the library.
Photo Club

Prairie High School
has an active Photo Club that anyone is
eligible to join. There are regular
monthly meetings scheduled during STAT.
Students are required to have an ASB
card and there is a nominal fee for
being in the club. Being in a
photography class is not required, but
encouraged.
Activities the club participates
in vary from year to year, but each year
one of the activities is a photo
competition sponsored by PHS and Battle Ground
High School called Photo
Focus.
Other competitions are available
and students are encouraged to
participate.

Challenge
All students are invited to become members of our Rachel’s
Challenge Club. Our group works to
reach out to new students and make them
feel welcome at our school. We
also try to make sure that students do
not “pick on” and “put down others”.
Our goal is to support a positive school
environment where all students feel safe
to attend school. If you would

In Science Olympiad, each 15-person team competes in over 20
science & engineering events at the
regional, state, and/or national level.
Students choose 3-6 events of interest
including study events, build-it events,
and/or general science events.
Groups of 2 or 3 students practice
events and compete together for prizes,
awards, and perhaps scholarships.
